From August 21 to 25, 2024, Imperial English Azerbaijan, the only official local branch office of Imperial English United Kingdom accredited by British Council , OFQUAL - Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation and IATEFL - International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language in Great Britain held Training Workshops on Academic English & IELTS specifically designed in terms of the application of new innovative methodologies and approaches, teaching methods and evaluations in English language teaching to further improve teaching skills of teachers.

The training was designed and delivered by world-renowned language experts from the head office in Birmingham, the second largest city in England. Thus, the total duration of the training, which included theory and initial knowledge, new teaching skills and ideas, practical teaching materials and research articles, video and PowerPoint presentations, exchange of valuable experiences with master teachers and training notes, step-by-step tasks and online workshops based on specifically chosen and designed program, was 10 hours. The workshops were delivered by Mr. Rafael Salguero, Vice Principal at Birmingham College, Academic Director at Imperial English UK, and Rebecca Philpot, an international trainer at Birmingham College.

Professional foreign language teachers addressed the problems of applying foreign languages, the development of communicative approach and communication skills in the teaching process, special qualities in the structure of communication, and various topics were discussed and covered in different ways through presentations. The main goal of delivering online training workshops is to take a communicative approach to the problems of employing the foreign language, to present the foreign language, its use and expression skills at a high level, to develop professional erudition, creative ingenuity, aesthetic culture, teaching skills and speech culture, as well as communication skills in teachers, and thus to further develop the English language level of teachers.

The IELTS preparation program and topics presented by Imperial English UK were designed to improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through technical terms, phrasal verbs and collocations, different methods and idioms.

1. Young people are much more aware of and concerned about issues like the environment, poverty and animal welfare than previous generations.
2. People naturally resist making change in their lives. What kind of problems or problems can this cause? What solution you can suggest?
3. To some people studying the past has little value in the modern world. Why do you think it is important to do so? What will be the effect if children are not taught history?
4. It is important for travelers and businesspeople to understand the cultures they come into contact with, however briefly. What are the main advantages of doing so? What do you think is the main disadvantage of not doing so?
5. The money spent on space research has brought enormous benefits to mankind, but it could be more specifically applied. How far do you agree?
6. The number of elderly people in the world is increasing. What do you think are the positive and negative effects of this trend?
7. Individuals can do nothing to change society. New developments can only be brought about by governments and large institutions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
8. The diagram below shows how salt is removed from sea water.
9. Bar chart shows highest qualification attained by sex for working-age population in Wales.
10. The charts below show how selected age groups bought concert, cinema, and theatre tickets online over the first three months of 2013 in three countries and how the internet was accessed.

13. The bar chart below shows the percentage of people in Great Britain living alone by age and sex in 2004-2005. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
14. The table below shows the projected costings over the next five year in American dollars for three environmental projects for sustainable forestry. The pie chart shows the expected expenditure breakdown allocation for the first year as the project are set up. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
15. The widespread use of Internet has brought many problems. What do you think are the main problems associated with the use of Internet? What solutions can you suggest?

The participants who successfully completed the training program were awarded a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training by the head office of Imperial English UK and an official cover letter by Imperial English Azerbaijan, the local branch office.
